At 6:47 pm an excited little voice from the floor came to the stage and said, “Will you play Whomp! There It Is, again?!” Another little voice said, “Can you play, Rump Shaker and the Macarena?!"

It was Christmas in the early ‘90’s and all of the Top 10 songs had already been played but some how the little voices in the room wanted to hear these three songs over and over again.

My Dad, who today is the oldest living party DJ in the Washington, DC metro area had taken me with him to the club on Bolling Air Force Base that night, he was contracted to DJ the children’s Christmas party.

 I watched as he set up his DJ equipment. He checked the bass, he checked the gain, and he checked the triangulation to make sure the sound was perfect. He told me where the bathroom was, introduced me to the club manager and told me about the giveaways and the prizes for the kiddos. And, at exactly 5:56 pm he turned to me and said, “You got it. I’ll be back at 10pm,” and walked off. I never saw it coming! He left me to DJ the party by myself!

Needless to say, I survived! It was my first DJ gig and I loved every minute of it!

Since then, I have been the co-host of a #1 rated radio show in Georgia, the #1 rated radio DJ in Central Missouri, em-ceed and hosted the circus, fashion shows, the Harlem Globetrotters/Harlem Legends, and a rap concert for thousands of US Army soldiers to name a few... I have written for radio, newspapers, the internet, and a cookbook.

Communications, all types, is in my blood and so is my love for food. I love cooking, eating, all types of public speaking, and my US Army Veteran husband, my absolute BIGGEST Cheerleader!
